Look we were working hard on our wizz words

  1. Kia ora Tē Pihinga,
What a lot of hard work is going on. I can see from your faces that you are concentrating hard. It would have been so interesting to have read about what wizz words are. I wonder how many tamariki practise their wizz words at home? Or do they do something different with wizz words?
    Thanks for sharing,

  2. I am interested in knowing more about your wizz words and how they work. The children in my class do lightening words and I wondered if wizz words are similar.

  3. Kia ora Mrs Spragg,

Whizz words is where we write as many words as we can. We get about 3 to 5 minutes to write our words. We have a very cool timer on the TV. Leo thinks you should have a go too and let us know how many words you can write. We practice our spelling at home.

    Thanks for commenting.

    1. Hi Te Pihinga & Leo,
Thank you helping me understand what Whizz words are.

And thank you Leo for the challenge. I might do that one afternoon with my class. I wonder how many RImu students could up with in that time?

We do have something called 'long write' in our class where the students have to write for 40 minutes. They have to get at least 230 words. Some get well over 500 words. I think there is a math problem in that information. Can you think of what it might be?

  4. Kia Ora Mrs Gatehouse,

They might be the same. Whizz words is when we write as many words as we can within 3-5 minutes. We have a cool timer to count us down. We were wondering what class do you work in? and what is a lightning word?
